Gorgeous wedding on the Greek clifftops at sunset!Read more
Getting the request through to shoot a wedding on the Greek coast was just an absolute dream come through! When Chris and Vaso told us their plans to get married by a small chapel on the clifftops while the sun was setting we were jumping for joy. What a wedding! The couple live in Exeter so we travelled down to meet them ahead of the destination wedding to have a chat about their day. They decided upon a wedding that perfectly mixed Greek and English wedding traditions to nod to both of their heritages.
The wedding itself was wonderful and hectic in the best way. We started the day with Vaso and her bridesmaids in an AirBnB in Anyvassos, up the road from the wedding venue. It was an emotional start to the day, and it was very touching to see the maid of honour burst in to tears the second she saw Vaso in her wedding dress. I also enjoyed learning the tradition of writing the names of the single guests to the bottom of the bride’s shoe, which is supposed to encourage the next weddings!
At the same time, the boys were setting up the venue, and with the sunflowers everywhere and just tonnes of thoughtful details, it looked amazing. The groom and his groomsmen wore traditional Greek wedding clothes and were so smart!
The ceremony at Ktima 48 was breathtaking. In front of the small orthodox chapel, at the top of the cliffs, the priest conducted their wedding ceremony as the sun was setting behind them. It was just stunning. It was really interesting experiencing a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony as well!
After the official bit was over, it was a very quick run down to the water to grab sunset photos with the last of the sun as it set on the sea. We absolutely loved capturing these wedding photos and especially the silhouette photos against the amazing back drop.
After a few drinks around the poolside, it was a lovely laidback wedding breakfast buffet, before on to the cake cutting. This was followed by a quick change of wedding dress by the bride, and then the first dance. The evening really kicked off, and we stayed until midnight to capture the brilliant dancing!
Overall, this was a fantastic wedding day and we couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque day!
